Raytheon executive Jon Jones has died of a heart attack at the age of 55, the company confirmed in a press release.

CEO William Swanson commented on his collegue’s passing in the announcement:

Jon was a valued contributor to Raytheon for 33 years, an outstanding leader within our company, industry and community, and a dear friend,” said Raytheon Chairman and CEO William H. Swanson. “He was a wonderful innovator who guided numerous programs of the utmost importance to our men and women in uniform. Everyone who knew and worked with Jon will miss him.”

According to the press release, Jones joined the company in 1977 and rose through the ranks to become a vice president and president of the Space and Airborne Systems.

Jones died at 8:46 PM at Sherman Oaks Hospital and Medical Center in Sherman Oaks, California. Autopsy results are pending. Information was not released regarding Jones’ next of kin or memorial and funeral services for the executive.
