Anne Hathaway Goes Blonde For Charity Event

Anne Hathaway debuted blonde chopped hair at a New York City charity event this week in one of the few public appearances for the actress since her Academy Award win.

Hathaway was appearing at the Costume Institute Gala in New York on Monday. It was the first red carpet event since she won Best Supporting Actress for her turn in Les Miserables, and the actress decided to make the appearance memorable.

Hathaway did so with newly dyed blonde hair.

“I don’t know that you could tell it by looking at me, but Debbie Harry was [my inspiration],” Hathaway told Vogue.com.

Anne Hathaway said the blonde hair was an experiment between her and her stylist.

“I couldn’t believe it when he sent me the picture because he asked me if I wanted to wear archive . . He said, ‘Well, have you ever done anything punk, darling?’ ” Hathaway laughed. “Princess, maybe! He sent me this one and I said, ‘Oh my god, I love it. It’s fabulous! First and only [choice] as soon as I saw it!”

Hathaway added, “I took the chaos thing as far as the couture would allow.”

The actress has been known for her on-the-fly fashion decisions before. At the Oscars, she made a last minute dress change when she found out that Les Mis co-star Amanda Seyfried had a similar one. Hathaway was reportedly quite upset, which she seemed to hint at in a statement released through her publicist.
“Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself,” said Hathaway, who had Valentine custom make her wedding dress in the fall of 2012. “I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”
