Taipei Taxis Get WiMax, Traffic Jams Become Slightly More Enjoyable
1,000 taxis in Taipei this week received WiMax onboard, an option that may not make sense when driving two or three blocks, but could be perfect for those stuck in traffic moments.
Apparently the WiMax offering will be free during the initial stages of the programs launch, while no word on eventual pricing has been announced by VMAX telcom.
It’s also still unclear if more than the initial 1,000 taxis will eventually receive the technology and if the program will eventually extend beyond Taipei. Although we suspect expansion will occur if the program proves to be successful during the programs early launch period. [Engadget]

So will the cabs have WiMAX receivers that shares out data over wifi (eg ‘here’s the WEP key for this taxi: ‘ signs on the back of the front seats)?
