In the hilarious and awkward clip (posted below), Gosling learns Thai martial arts from the best of the best in between takes of Only God Forgives director Nicolas Winding Refn explaining why violence in film is like sex.

As Refn goes a bit TMI with his explanation, Gosling stares into the camera with a wry little grin on his face, perfectly illustrating the strange humor of the situation.

The outtake is from the upcoming crime thriller Only God Forgives, which reunites Gosling and Refn again after their 2011 ne0-noir Drive.

It takes place in Bangkok, Thailand, and follows Julian (played by Gosling) who runs a Thai boxing club as a front for his family’s drug smuggling operation. His mother Jenna arrives and forces Julian to find and kill the man responsible for his brother’s death.
