Justin Bieber: What Lockdown? Singer Hits Dubai Clubs, ‘Surfs’ SUV

Justin Bieber has reportedly been put under lockdown during his stay in Dubai while he performs two Believe tour concerts in the city.

The singer’s management team have reportedly booked out 60 rooms at two different hotels in the city to make sure the teenager star remains scandal free in the conservative Arab emirate which largely follows Islamic law and codes of conduct.

According to The Sun newspaper, one of the five-star hotels is only 40 minutes from Dubai’s center, and the rooms have been booked to make sure Bieber isn’t tempted by the luxury city’s nightlife.

While alcohol is served to guests at most bars in major hotels operating with a Ministry of Interior liquor permit and non-Muslims are allowed to bring in four items of alcohol at customs — the legal drinking age in Dubai is 21.

That age requirement also applies to clubs and bar entry, so Bieber, who is 19, is legally not allowed to drink or enter clubs unless given special permission by the venue.

The paper also reported that one club shipped in a custom-made 24-carat gold ping pong table to keep the singer happy while his crew drank, but frankly, that sounds like nonsense.

Bieber, his security and a few friends arrived in Dubai on Friday on a private jet from Istanbul, Turkey where he played one show. The singer’s friends, rappers Lil Twist and Lil Za have also joined the teen star and are staying at the same five-star hotel.

But it seems Bieber didn’t receive his management’s memo — if indeed there was one — about staying put at the hotel.

On Friday, as well as going to the smart Zuma restaurant, the singer and friends hit Movida Dubai, a nightclub frequented by celebrities, at around 2:00 am.

Their arrival triggered a frenzied reception from clubgoers inside, 7 Days in Dubai reports.

Movida obtained special permission for Bieber to attend despite his underage status. However, the singer left at 30 minutes after it was made clear the club couldn’t serve him alcohol.

A representative for Movida Dubai said:

“On Friday 3 May teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber partied in Movida, Dubai’s most hip nightclub after a source revealed that the club was given a special permission from the local authorities to let him in despite being underage.”

“According to a source Justin arrived at the club to a frenzy, I have never seen the crowd go quite so crazy before. He was ushered to his table as quickly as possible but unfortunately he decided to leave as Movida were not permitted to serve him alcohol.”

“After refusing to serve him, Justin was seen leaving the club surfing on the roof of an SUV while it was already in motion.”

Although Bieber’s time at the Movida Dubai club was brief, their official Twitter account is still posting excited messages about his visit.

The superstar was later seen at the People By Crystal club on Friday where he was also denied alcohol. Undeterred, the next evening he was spotted at The Real Flava Club after playing at the first of two shows at Dubai’s Sevens Stadium last night.

Despite a 90 minute late start to his concert last night and resulting anger from parents of young fans who went, local media reports say once the show began at 10:06 pm the teen delivered a blistering set and thrilled his young fans.

Event organizers, Done Events later released a statement saying that they were hopeful Bieber’s Sunday’s show would start on time at 8 pm but advised it could be delayed.

However — and this is something many media outlets may not be aware of — before most Believe tour shows the singer attends ‘Meet and Greet’ events to interact with fans. Due to the often late start of these, it pushes back the shows.

The official Believe tour Twitter account has stated that tonight’s show started at 10 pm. So, three guesses on what imminent headlines will read.
