Kristen Bell To Host This Year’s CMT Music Awards

Kristen Bell will return to host the CMT Music Awards this summer.

The busy actress recently made the announcement on Twitter. Unfortunately for those who enjoyed her banter with co-host Toby Keith, the singer won’t be returning for another go-around.

Although Bell stated in her tweet that she would be getting another co-host for this year’s awards ceremony, she stopped short of revealing who would join her on-stage. Since the event is scheduled to take place this June, chances are details will be revealed very shortly.

Considering Toby Keith and Kristen Bell received mixed reviews for their performance last year — the folks at Entertainment Weekly were particularly critical — it’s kind of surprising that the Veronica Mars star is coming back. Maybe a new co-host will help brighten things up a bit.

Bell, who just welcomed a baby girl into the world, will be quite busy in the coming months. In addition to returning as host for the CMT Music Awards this June, she is attached to star in the Veronica Mars flick that’s taking shape at Warner.

Director Rob Thomas proved earlier this year that even big studios can benefit from Kickstarter campaigns. The crowd-funding stunt proved extremely successful; Thomas was able to raise a whopping $5.7 million when all was said and done. The project’s goal was only $2 million.

In addition to financing the movie, the money generated through Kickstarter will also help fund a behind-the-scene documentary about the Veronica Mars movie. Chances are the flick will finally arrive on the big screen at some point next year.

Kristen Bell is also extremely busy doing work for the Showtime series House of Lies. The series is expected to return for a third season next year.
