Company of Heroes 2 is getting closer and closer to official release and today the game’s developer unveiled a new game mode that will be coming along with the full version.

Sega issued a press release that detailed the new mode which has been dubbed the Theatre of War mode.

Company of Heroes 2 will launch with this mode already built in and when you launch you will be able to choose one of two different armies. Set in 1941, you can either play as the Soviet Red Army or the German army.

After you choose which army you want to play as you will be able to play nine different missions that all involve major battles from that year. Sega says that more missions will be added to the mode in the future as well.

The lead producer of the game, Greg Wilsontalked about why they added this mode saying, “We get a lot of requests from fans to showcase specific conflicts from the war and it isn’t always possible to fit these into the campaign. Theatre of War gives us the opportunity to deliver these new gameplay experiences to our fans.”
