We’re very cautious about this one, but a noncommittal statement has come out of Redmond this week which says Windows Mobile 6.5 devices may be able to transition to the far much cooler Windows Phone 7 Series.
Alex Reeve of Microsoft released this vague statement:
It’s early days yet, and that’s really for our hardware partners to think about.
Given that Reeve is the Director of the UK Mobile Business Group, it’s a good sign of things to come. The question still remains however if WIndows Phone 7 specs will have to already be available on devices allowed up upgrade, which would be a good sign for HD2 users, but not for users of older devices.
