Pizza Hut Will Pay You $1 For A Compliment

Pizza Hutreally wants you to like them.

When Consumerist tipster Jared collected his to-go pizza at his local Pizza Hut restaurant, he found the following printed notice taped to his box (complete with mangled capitalization and apostrophe abuse):

$1 OFF Next purchase

“your next order for taking our survey! Just go online, take the survey and print the last page of your survey (shows “thank you for your feedback) or print the e-mail you will receive after you complete the survey (typically will say “we’re sorry… but you are not todays instant winner”), show it to us and we will give you $1 off your order. It’s that easy! Only 5’s count (Selecting Strongly Agree) so please give 5’s if you liked us!! It helps us out and is a credit to our store. Thank You!”

Given the homemade nature of the sign, I assume this $1 discount is coming from the pockets of management at this particular branch.

Having not worked in catering before, I had no idea those little feedback cards are so damned important.

So I have questions. Would this encourage you to give the restaurant a precious five stars? Sausage or pepperoni? And is Pizza Hut effectively bribing people to like them? Perhaps it’s not for us to say. Yes. Yes it is.
