Lauren Graham Talks 35-Year Diet, Writing Passion

Fun fact: Lauren Graham is 46-years-old, yet she doesn’t look like she has aged a day over 30. What’s her secret? She’s been watching what she eats since she was 11.

In the May issue of More, the Parenthood star dishes on how she maintains her sexy figure and youthful appearance, and the answer is as painfully simple as it can be. “I’ve been on a diet for 35 years,” she admits, revealing that she has always been careful about what she puts into her body.

Still, and and gravity take their toll eventually, and Graham admitted that it’s something she does think about. “I’ve spent a lot of time wondering, ‘What’s going to happen?'” she says of aging.

“Thinks about” – not “worries about,” by the way.

“I try not to allow myself to do that much anymore. I think I’ve gotten more comfortable with the unknown,” she says.

Though Graham had a steady gig between 2000 and 2007 on Gilmore Girls and film appearances in Evan Almighty and It’s Kind of a Funny Story, she admitted that sometimes her career has slowed down.

“Acting is the most bizarre profession. You can stay in it for years and not really be in it and be waiting for someone to give you an opportunity,” she says. “It’s like when I watch American Idol and see people who have been told to believe in themselves at all costs: It’s not always a good idea.”

Still, Graham does have a back-up plan in case her acting career slows and never really picks back up. Having recently written her first novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, she admitted that writing is a passion she is keen to pursue.

“I wanted to write about the tiny, tiny progress and the complete unknown of wanting to follow any impossible dream,” she says.
