Chris Paul’s Buzzer-Beater Gives Clippers 2-0 Lead Over Grizzlies [Video]

The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Memphis Grizzlies 93-91 in game two Monday night as Chris Paul hit a running jumper at the buzzer. Paul’s clutch shot gave the Clippers a 2-0 lead in the series after a highly contested match-up with the Grizzlies.

Paul finished with 24 points, nine assists, and four rebounds as the Clippers took both games in Los Angeles to start the series. Game two produced much more excitement as the Grizzlies went on multiple runs to keep the game close throughout.

The Clippers led by six at the half but the Grizzlies stormed back late in the third quarter and held a one-point lead. Chris Paul went on to score six of the Clippers final 13 points in the third to regain the lead at 75-71 going into the fourth quarter.

The Clippers’ bench made an immediate impact to start the fourth and gave the Clippers their first double-digit lead of the game at 81-71. The starters returned to the floor and held off a late rush by the Grizzlies.

Paul’s buzzer-beater capped off the night for the Clippers though a late run by the Grizzlies almost stole the show Monday. Marc Gasol threw down a slam with 13 seconds left to tie the game at 91 before Paul took control on the final possession.

After a quick inbound’s play, Jamal Crawford found Paul at the top of the key and spread the floor to give him some room to make a move. Paul took advantage and drove into the lane against Tony Allen and hit a running jumper off the backboard for the win as time expired.

The series now moves on to Memphis for game three on Thursday. With a win, the Clippers can close out the Grizzlies on the road on Saturday with a sweep. The Grizzlies have other plans in mind, and it’s tough to blame them after a gutsy performance on Monday.

Mike Conley led all scorers with 28 points in the loss, and he isn’t ready to give up on his team just yet. If Paul’s jumper hits the rim in the final seconds, the Grizzlies could be going back home with the series tied at one and the momentum in their favor.
