Heavy Rain banned in the UAE



PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain won’t be appearing in the United Arab Emirates, due to its focus on serial killers, violence and boobies. The censorship-happy Gulf state has announced that it has banned the game, which launches this month.

This is hardly a surprise, when you consider that Darksiders and all the God of War games (I’d be amazed if God of War III escaped the UAE’s banhammer in March) have already been turned away by the authorities there. EA, meanwhile, didn’t even bother trying to release Dante’s Inferno there, because, y’know, it’s Dante’s Inferno.

A shame then, but we all know different countries have different sensibilities, so fair enough. UAE gamers still got the real version of Left 4 Dead 2, so they’re one up on Australians in that respect.

Heavy Rain hits the U.S. tomorrow, with a European release on Friday. Here’s the (rather mild) sex scene that I suspect got the title a hefty serving of ban:
