Bethesda’s ‘The Evil Within’ Officially Unveiled [Video]

Bethesda’s The Evil Within has finally been officially unveiled this morning. The reveal comes after a week of teasing the gaming community with less than helpful videos and the promise that the teased game has nothing to do with the Fallout series.

The first teaser video for the game was simply some odd record scratching noises with pictures of barbed wire. The second video was even more convoluted, showing a patch of sunflowers, which promptly burst into flames.

The video also showed a hazy figure of what looked like a man standing behind the flowers in an open shirt. It now appears that man is a character in this new game.

Bethesda’s The Evil Within has been announced as a survival horror game that is put together by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s studio Tango Gameworks.

The game had previously been teased as being called Zwei. Tango Gameworks announced back in 2012 that they had begun working on a survival horror game.

Tango’s first trailer is a live action video that doesn’t yet show any of the actual game play but certain sets the tone for a truly creepy looking game.

On Monday, the company said it will be releasing more information including a short demo video that might finally be showing off what some of the graphics might look like.

Mikami released some information about the game, but more is expected early next week. Mikami said that “I’ve found my focus and once again I’m striving for pure survival horror.”

The Resident Evil mastermind also said that he will be taking a very hands-on approach to the development of this game.

The game is going to be released for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and various “next generation” consoles sometime in 2014.

Check out the first video of Bethesda’s The Evil Within and tell us what you think, then come back Monday for more info.
