Zac Efron Gets Titanium Plate After On-Set Injury

Zac Efron had a titanium plate put in his hand following a recent on-set injury.

The actor broke his hand while filming his new movie Townies. The injury occurred while Efron was shooting a fight scene with co-star Dave Franco.

Zac Efron discussed his broken hand and the titanium plate during a recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael. While the actor said his hand is healing quite nicely, he admitted that it really isn’t much to look at for the time being.

The actor explained:

“I broke it a couple [of] days ago on set… during filming, it was during a stage fight with Dave Franco. I had to go back to work so I couldn’t really wear a cast, so they [medics] put like a titanium plate in it and a bunch of screws.”

He added, “I don’t know why I’m telling you this. My hand in theory is back to normal, it just looks really gross.”

Zac Efron gave Kelly Ripa and guest host Carrie Ann Inaba a good look at his hands. The hand with the titanium plate is significantly larger the other.

Although he might look a little worse for wear, the High School Musical alum assured everyone that he’s healing up quite nicely. However, it might take a little while before his hand starts to return to normal.

Townies is the latest movie from Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller. In addition to Zac Efron and Dave Franco, the flick stars comedy vet Seth Rogen.

“I really admire Seth. I think that he is one of my favorite comedic actors of our generation. There really hasn’t been a role that I’ve seen in him that I haven’t enjoyed,” Efron told MTV News about his time on-set with Rogen.
