Adele Book Deal: Singer Turned Down Seven-Figure Offer For Memoir

An Adele book deal may be some way off for fans of the British singer.

The 24-year-old chanteuse has reportedly turned down a seven-figure offer to write her memoir because – and how refreshing is this? – she feels she’s “far too young.”

The Mirror reports that the Oscar-and Grammy-winning singer would rather wait until she has “more life experience” before penning an autobiography. Take note, Britney (who was 19 years old when she released her life story), Drew Barrymore (16), Miley Cyrus (16), and Charlotte Church (a rather preposterous 15).

While she may be swamped in accolades (not to mention a reported $46 million fortune), an insider told The Mirror Adele has declined the advances of several publishing houses interested in selling her autobiography.

“Adele’s never been a really showy person. So it was always going to take a lot to get her to write her life story anyway.

“But even though she received a lucrative offer, her primary concern was that she doesn’t want to write a book about just 24 years. She feels she’d rather wait until she has more life experience to write about.”

“She’d never say never, but she did say ‘not now,’ ”

A future Adele book deal may well happen – the singer is reportedly keen on writing a memoir years from now, but is currently focused on “building her future rather than writing about her past.”

And thank goodness for that.
