Pete Wentz Praises Ex Ashlee Simpson As An ‘Awesome Mom’

Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson may have split up, but there are apparently no hard feelings between the two who share custody of their 4-year-old son together.

During an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live Monday, the Fall Out Boy bass player praised his ex as an “awesome mother” to the couple’s son, Bronx.

“I feel like we both realize that we’re parents and we’re in it for our kid. That’s made it really easy,” Wentz said of Simpson. “I feel like, as a mom, she’s awesome. She’s an awesome mom and we get along really well when it comes to our kid now.”

The 33-year-old also praised his former father-in-law, Joe Simpson. “I think he is a really great grandfather,” Wentz said. “Really good guy.”

Joe and Tina Simpson filed for divorce in 2012 after 30 years of marriage.

Wentz and Ashlee Simpson married in 2008, in a ceremony officiated by Joe. Two weeks later, Simpson confirmed her pregnancy, and announced that she would be changing her name to Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. In February, 2011, the couple split with Simpson citing “irreconcilable differences.”

A source opined at the time that the two had simply “married too young”, adding, “It was honestly a classic case of marrying young, having a kid young and growing apart over the years.”

Since splitting, Wentz has been dating model Meagan Camper. Simpson dated Boardwalk Empire‘s Vincent Piazza for a year and a half before splitting in late 2012.
