Iron Man 3‘s post credits scene features a surprise cameo. Spoilers await.
Before we jump into the surprise cameo, let’s recap what we know about Iron Man 3 thus far. The film stars a few of the familiar players we know from Iron Man 2, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle. Newcomers include Ben Kingsley as the most dangerous opponent Tony Stark has ever faced thus far (The Mandarin), and Guy Pierce as Aldrich Killian.
The Mandarin is apparently attacking the US and Iron Man together, and in the process, Tony Stark could end up losing everything that matters to him, including his partner-in-crime Pepper Potts. This time around, we’ll see Tony Stark at his most humble as he has to survive the Mandarin’s initial attack long enough to strike back and save more than just the world, but his own sanity.
Another thing that’s returning, like in every Marvel Studios film in existence thus far, is the post credits scene that requires you to sit through the credits to see it. This is your last chance to close the story before the spoilers are revealed.
The scene begins with Tony Stark sitting back on a couch and recounting some of the traumas he’s witnessed. You assume he’s talking to a psychiatrist, as the camera doesn’t show that much. The scene is light and supposedly funny. At this point, the camera pans over and we see Mark Ruffalo (Hulk/Bruce Banner) sleeping nearby. Apparently, Tony’s stories are boring him. Tony tells Bruce that he was sleeping through the most exciting part of the story, yelling at him. Bruce mumbles a bit and then replies, “You know, I’m not that kind of doctor!” Tony seems unfazed by this and resumes talking like he was, as though Bruce Banner was his shrink. Then Bruce Banner begins falling asleep again.
This post credits scene will give comic book fans a nod, as it’s well known that Bruce Banner and Tony Stark are good friends.
