Sandisk Goes 64GB With New iNAND Embedded Memory

The Sandisk iNAND 64GB chip debuted today and the new memory marks Sandisk’s first 64GB single chip to hit the Smartphone market.

With the larger amount of memory space comes a single drive boot, operating system and storage functions, while lower power consumption based on a single chip design is also showing promise for Smartphones, devices that rely on packing in a whole lot of memory in a very tight space.

While an exact release date has yet to be revealed, we do know that they rely on the Sandisk 3-bit-per cell technology, a piece of tech already used on many systems and which goes against last years debut of the 4-bit per cell technology.

According to Electronista:

The new drives will have the same physical interface currently used in smartphone design, which should speed deployment. Sandisk will produce the new chips in capacities ranging from 4GB to 64GB.

Take that iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. Then again Apple will probably buy up all this memory when available, leaving everyone else scrambling to find new flash memory.
