‘Skylanders Giants’ Heading To McDonald’s

Skylanders Giants, the incredibly popular video game is making the move from consoles to fast food. The toys and figures that go along with the game are going to be offered up in Happy Meals starting tomorrow and running through May 2.

Obviously, the toys aren’t going to be the kind that actually hook up to the portal of power and are playable, but they will look like the real thing without the cool base and the microchips that tell the game what character you are using.

These will instead have different “playable” features for each of the nine different characters. This likely means they will shoot a little piece of plastic or have some other motion when you hit a button or tab.

The Skylanders Giants toys are being rolled out in the United States this month, but there are plans to roll them out in other countries in the very near future.

Not only will you be able to get the toys, but McDonald’s is also throwing in a $10 coupon on the game’s starter pack.

This is apparently a way for the makers of the game to get rid of their excess stock before the new Skylanders game hits the market.

McDonald’s is going to be offering up nine different figures from the game. Spyro, Gill Grunt, Drobot, Chop Chop, Ignitor, Jet-Vac, Tree Rex, Crusher, and Kaos are featured in the giveaway.

This is an interesting tie-in choice if for no other reason than the figures for the game already double as toys. The big difference, other than the fact that they won’t work on the actual portal of power is that these might actually be a bit more playable.

Nothing shoots off of the original figures. Are you going to be heading over to McDonald’s in order to get your Skylanders Giants happy meal?
