Philadelphia Woman Impersonates Nurse, Molests Children

Philadelphia, PA – Philadelphia police have arrested a 24-year-old suspect after she allegedly posed as a nurse and inappropriately touched a child at Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

Ashley Delvalle has been charged with simple assault, indecent assault, and other related offenses. Authorities were told that while Delvalle was at Saint Christopher’s with her own child, she went into several hospital rooms, impersonating a nurse, and told parents she needed to perform physical examinations on the young patients.

Currently, Delvalle is not a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN), which both require having a license from the Pennsylvania Board in order to perform the aforementioned physicals in the state’s hospitals.

She proceeded to physically touch one child in an inappropriate manner and weighed another.

The hospital administrators were alerted by the mother of the violated patient. Consequently the Philadelphia Police Department and Philadelphia Department of Human Services were contacted and an investigation was launched into the incident.

According to CBS Philly, an official statement was issued on behalf of Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children Thursday assuring, “The safety of our patients at St. Christopher’s is our top priority and we are firmly committed to providing a secure environment for both patients and staff.”

Simple assault, under the Pennsylvania state penal code statute 2701, is levied on those who attempt to intentionally or knowingly cause bodily injury to another, negligently cause harm to another with a deadly weapon, physically menace with fear or imminent bodily injury, or attempt to conceal a hypodermic needle with the intent to use on law enforcement during the course of an arrest.

Simple assault is a graded offense – considered a second-degree misdemeanor unless a fight ensues or the assault is committed against a child under the age of 12 by an offender over the age of 21, which is then a misdemeanor of the first-degree.

If convicted on a first-degree misdemeanor charge, the court can impose a maximum sentence of five years I jail and a fine of $10,000. Second-degree would garner a two year sentence and a fine of $5,000.
