Video: Snowpocalypse hits D.C., Baltimore
The nation’s capital is currently buried under a record snowfall, with drifts as high as 4 feet in some places.
Washington has been hit with a foot of snow or more only 13 times in the past 140 years, with a record of 28″ in January of 1922. Residents reacted by stripping supermarket shelves of food, candles and water. 21″ of snow had fallen in Baltimore by 11am today, and Philadelphia and Pittsburgh have also been hit hard by Snowmaggedon 2010.
Approximately 180,000 homes in Pennsylvania are believed to be without power due to the snowstorm, and the governor has declared a state of emergency. Some residents report that a recorded message from Allegheny Power indicates that power may not be restored to some homes in the area until February 12th.
Below, weatherman Jim Kosek reports on the latest storm. I’d advise turning your speakers down before you view the video.
