‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ Trailers Acknowledged As Misleading By Sega

Aliens: Colonial Marines trailers got quite a few people really excited about the game. Then when the game actually hit there were some people who were clearly upset at how little the gameplay lived up to what they had seen.

While most gamers will certainly complain to their friends about where they feel a game has fallen short, most people don’t go the extra mile and actually report the game makers to a governing body.

One Reddit member apparently decided that the game trailers that were put out for the game were just a little too different from what we were seeing in the game and reported the discrepancy to the Advertising Standards Authority.

Aliens: Colonial Marines‘ most glaring problems between the videos and the actual gameplay was the graphics simply weren’t nearly as good when you were playing the game.

After reviewing the case, the ASA actually contacted Sega and the video game company has now actually admitted that the trailers were misleading. While Sega did admit they were wrong, they admitted as much with a bit of a caveat.

The company said that they used demo footage from the game’s internal engine. Because that footage was culled months before the game actually went to market they weren’t aware that there was going to be such a huge problem with the final graphics quality.

The admission that the videos were misleading seemed to be enough for the ASA to feel satisfied that the problem was handled. That has hardly been the only problem that has faced this particular title. Expected to be out this spring, the Wii U version of the title still isn’t available.

Making matters worse is the fact that Sega refuses to comment on why or when the game will be arriving for that particular console.

All of these problems brought together illustrate just a small example of why Aliens: Colonial Marines has been such a disappointment.
