Lollapalooza Lineup Leak Annoys Perry Farrell

The Lollapalooza 2013 lineup was leaked this week, and in the social era, spread like wildfire across the internet — which is a mild frustration to Perry Farrell, the Jane’s Addiction frontman explains.

Lollapalooza has been kicking around for more than 20 years now, and creator Perry Farrell said he’s excited about this year’s big name lineup … but he wishes he’d had the opportunity to announce it.

Farrell says of the internet leaks that Lollapalooza’s 2013 ticket is an awesome one, and the surprise-ruining was a bit of a bummer. He explained:

“It’s a pain in the butt … It’s like you want to ask someone to marry you, and your friend jumps in and says, ‘Hey, he’s going to ask you to marry him.’ You don’t want to hear it from that person … It’s been a thorn in our side.”

But still, Farrell says, Lollapalooza 2013 is going to be awesome. And us olds thrilled to hear The Cure was headlining were not alone — the Porno For Pyros singer is too.

He says:

“Yeah, everyone is super excited for The Cure; they are like a fine wine, their songs have grown graceful and better with age … If you would have told me in the early ‘90s that New Order and The Cure would both be playing, I would freak out.”

Perry says of the 2013 lineup — which in addition to The Cure, includes New Order, Mumford and Sons, Cat Power, Nine Inch Nails, The Postal Service and Queens Of The Stone Age — “Lollapalooza to me is a party that you don’t want to miss.”
