Jennifer Garner In Talks To Star In ‘Draft Day’

In recent years Jennifer Garner hasn’t been taking the roles she was poised for after leaving her ABC series Alias. During the last season of the show, she infamously married Ben Affleck in a private ceremony, and since giving birth to their children Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, Garner has chosen to take a step back from promising projects to produce and hold things down at the fort.

In recent years, Garner has stood by Affleck’s side as he’s expanded his career as a critically acclaimed director, and has watched his slow transformation into an Oscar award winning filmmaker. As you’re probably aware, Affleck took home the 2013 Oscar for Best Film for Argo, which he produced with George Clooney.

Although Garner has had well received turns in independent films like Juno, and last year’s Butter, she hasn’t reached the level of success she was gunning for earlier in her career. Perhaps that will now change as Garner has been in discussions to star in Draft Day.

A sports dramedy that sounds a bit like The Blind Side, Garner will act alongside Kevin Costner. The NFL film is set around “The story follows the manager of an American football franchise who struggles to acquire the number one draft pick for his team on the day of the draft.” Garner is said to be in discussions for Costner’s secrtary in the film.

If that doesn’t sound promising, then it’s director Ivan Reitman, who’s set to head up the project with Summit already on board to distribute the film. In addition to this role, Garner has been seen in the aforementioned Butter, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, and will also be seen next in Dallas Buyers Club with Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey.

Are you excited to possibly see Jennifer Garner alongside Kevin Costner in the new sports film?
