Barbara Walters: I’m Not Retiring [Video]

It was widely reported last week that Barbara Walters would be retiring from her position at The View. But the veteran journalist has no intentions of retiring. At least not yet.

When The View aired this morning after a two-week hiatus Barbara took a moment to address the retirement rumors.

Walters said: “There were many reports last week that I was retiring from ABC and there was an assumption that I would be making an announcement today. The paparazzi were outside my home today… however, here I am, and I have no announcement to make.”

It was reported last week that Walters, now 83, is planning to retire in May, 2014. The talk show host is reportedly planning to stay with The View until the show finds a suitable replacement for Joy Behar and, presumably, Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Walters didn’t give any additional information about her looming retirement today but she did tell viewers where they should tune in to get the latest information about her retirement.

Walters said: “I do want to say this: that if and when I might have an announcement to make, I will do it on this program, I promise, and the paparazzi guys —- you will be the last to know.”

Here’s the video of Barbara Walters addressing the retirement rumors on The View.

Is this just an April Fool’s prank? Will Barbara Walters be announcing her retirement tomorrow?
