Director John Moore’s A Good Day to Die Hard is headed to Blu-ray and DVD this summer.
Fans of the franchise who have been buying Die Hard movies since the days of VHS will be able to add the latest sequel to their collection very soon.
In order to entice folks to pick up a copy of A Good Day to Die Hard on Blu-ray, 20th Century Fox is offering up an extended cut of the feature. If you felt the movie really needed to be longer, then you’re definitely in for a treat.
In addition to a longer version of the sequel, those who purchase the film on Blu-ray will get a plethora of special features. The multi-disc set features tons of behind-the-scenes documentaries, deleted scenes, and a feature-length commentary from John Moore.
Details about the DVD release are few and far between at the moment. The listing at Amazon suggests only the Blu-ray version of the flick will contain the extended cut. Chances are the special features will be scaled back to one or two featurettes.
Unfortunately for Bruce Willis fans, the actor isn’t contributing a commentary track to the home video release of A Good Day to Die Hard. Co-star Jai Courtney is also absent from the list.
The latest entry in the Die Hard franchise was a modest hit for 20th Century Fox earlier this year. While it didn’t set the box office on fire with its numbers, the sequel did generate around $66 million during its theatrical run.
The movie proved to be much more popular overseas. John Moore’s installment earned approximately $222 million from foreign markets. Twentieth Century Fox earned a total of $295 million around the world.
Those hoping for another Bruce Willis-fronted Die Hard sequel might be out of luck. The actor said two years ago that he intended to retire the character after Die Hard 6. However, there’s always the possibility Willis could return to the franchise for another go-around in the future.
A Good Day to Die Hard is slated to hit retail shelves on June 4. Will you pick up a copy of the movie when it hits Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download?
