‘Placenta’ Found In Ice Cream Tub By Dog Walker

London, United Kingdom – A dog walker in London has found what is believed to be human placenta in an ice cream tub, authorities say.

Police in London say a tub containing a mysterious substance was found alongside a footpath near Tooting Bec Athletics Track in south London at just before 7.00am on Saturday. Police revealed that the tub was partly buried before being unearthed by an animal.

Later examinations suggested the substance in the tub was human placenta which could be two weeks old. Despite a search in the area using specialist police “blood” dogs, no other suspicious items were found. Police have expressed concern that a vulnerable woman has given birth and may need urgent medical help.

Chief Inspector Nick Aldworth said:

“Obviously we are at the very early stages of the investigation into what has been found, but the suggestion that it could be a human placenta does give us concern that there could be an individual whose health and wellbeing may be at risk.

“That said, we retain an open mind regarding the item and how it came to be buried on the pathway pending the results of testing and any confirmed information coming to light.

“Therefore we are appealing to the person who buried the item to contact us, or anyone who knows the person who buried the item. Your call will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”

Police have urged anybody who regularly uses the footpath to contact them with any further details.
