Just as it did with Apple products, the team at Best Buy is planning to launch Samsung store-in-a-store locations at various outlets around the United States.
According to information obtained by Geek.com the electronics retailer is hoping to launch the Samsung mini-shops at select locations before the Samsung Galaxy S4 launched in April.
Customers visiting the Samsung store-in-a-store locations will be able to try out the Galaxy S4, various Samsung tablets and other mobile devices from the tech giant.
Best Buy stores receiving the stores will be handed directions for removing two entire aisles next to their existing mobile departments. The Samsung shops will include custom demo stations and prominent Samsung signage. Best Buy employees working at the Samsung booth will be provided with special training sessions so they can properly pitch the devices to customers.
After the initial launch Best Buy is expected to launch Samsung store-in-store locations at all of its U.S. based stores. The second wave of Samsung shops are expected to arrive in the latter part of 2013.
Best Buy is clamoring to increase sales at its brick and mortar locations after losing $377 million on $16.7 billion in sales. The company in late 2012 and early 2013 announced the closure of various Best Buy locations in both the United States and Canada.
While opening Samsung stores throughout its various locations is not likely to turn around Best Buy’s fortunes, the move could draw in Samsung fans who would normally go elsewhere for electronic products. The move is also part of Best Buy’s increasing shift towards smaller Best Buy Mobile locations which sell smartphones and tablets to mobile customers.
Best Buy has not confirmed the stores or revealed what type of products will be stocked at each store-in-a-store location.
