‘Halo 4’, ‘Gears of War’ DLC Being Launched On Xbox For Free Today

Halo 4 and Gears of War: Judgement both have new DLC that is being launched today at no cost. Call it a bit of an early Easter present from Microsoft Xbox.

Forge Island, which is custom built for Halo’s multiplayer map editor is coming to Xbox Live today, and that release date is apparently well ahead of when the map was first claimed to be releasing.

During a Pax East panel, developers said that the map wouldn’t be out until April 11. The map gives players who like to build their own layouts something they have been asking for a while. This map layout actually has flat land.

Halo 4 players who like to build their own battlegrounds have had to deal with running into water and trees when they are building. This new map pack doesn’t get in the way of building enough of the land that gives you plenty of battle space.

The only drawback is that you will have to go looking for this particular DLC. If you want to download the map remotely you can go to this site.

Gears of War: Judgement has some new DLC as well that includes a new playable mode and a new map. The Execution Multiplayer pack comes with the Haven map pack. This particular DLC is specifically being handed out by Maxim and Epic Games.

There is no real explanation as to why Maxim would be offering up any kind of free DLC other than this is a pretty big weekend for people to have some time off. Much like the Halo offering, you have to go through some special steps in order to get the map.

To get Haven you will need to download this pack directly from the title menu as there seems to be some technical difficulties.

Are you going to get the new Halo 4 and Gears of War: Judgement DLC today?
