James Franco’s Grandma Thinks You Should See ‘Spring Breakers’ [Video]

You’ve probably heard a lot about a movie called Spring Breakers lately: Some of it good, some of it bad. If you’re still undecided about seeing the controversial film, a short appeal from star James Franco’s grandmother might convince you to check it out.

Spring Breakers is a crime comedy-drama thriller film written and directed by Harmony Korine, starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine and Gucci Man. The film has everything: Crime, violence, sex, and two Disney “princesses” acting dirty. It has been called everything from “a druggy, violent, hypersexualized tale,” to “the most debauched movie of the year.”

That’s an awful lot of buzz for a barely-marketed movie shot on a budget of $2 million. So should you go see it? James Franco’s grandmother definitely thinks so.

In a new video posted to the Spring Breakers Facebook page, Franco’s gammy talks about how much she likes the movie and how great her grandson is as an aspiring rapper and gangsta.

“See Spring Breakers,” she urges in the short clip. “Lots of parties, lots of drinking, lots of girls, and my grandson!”

Franco has turned to his grandmother for help promoting his films in the past. Back in 2010, she did a video with her grandson for his film 127 Hours which was posted to Funny Or Die. Wearing a t-shirt that read “I kept my eyes open for 127 Hours” (a reference to a particularly gruesome scene), she criticized people who were too afraid to see the film.

“I think they’re a bunch of p—–s,” she said.
