Dennis Quaid Reconciles With Estranged Wife

Dennis Quaid has reconciled with his estranged wife, Kimberly, after a several months long separation.

While the two can’t stop their divorce from being completed, since they have both signed the divorce documents, they have had a change of heart and decided to reunite. The couple initially separated in October after eight years of marriage — and after Kimberly Buffington-Quaid withdrew her initial petition for divorce — because she was “fed up with Dennis’ cheating and wants out of the marriage. He’s not a good husband.”

The not-quite-former Mrs. Quaid was also seeking primary physical custody of their twins, as well as spousal support from the 58-year-old actor. She said she felt the marriage had “become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities.”

Dennis Quaid then filed for divorce from his wife at the end of November, just a month after Kimberly Buffington-Quaid filed her separation papers. The reason he had to wait is because of a California law that requires people to have a six month residency in the state before they can file for divorce. Since the couple moved over the summer, Quaid had to wait until the end of the month before he could legally file. He requested joint physical and legal custody of the twins and offered to pay spousal support.

As a parting gift, he bought a $3.1 million home for Kimberly and their 5-year-old twins, Thomas and Zoe. The home, located in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, is under both Dennis and Kimberly Quaid’s names, but under the terms of their divorce settlement, she and the children have exclusive occupancy of the house until the twins turn 18.

The divorce agreement also conditionally allows Kimberly Buffington-Quaid to stay in the house longer if necessary.

Now the two are deciding to give it one more try, although they will still be legally divorced. The divorce paperwork is currently in the possession of a judge, and there is no way for them to remove it from the courts system at this point, finalizing the judgment. It is unclear whether they plan to remarry.

This is Dennis Quaid’s third marriage. He was previously married to actresses P.J. Soles (1978-1983) and Meg Ryan (1991-2001). He also dated Shanna Moakler in 2001, but the relationship lasted only eight months.
