X Factor record deal… who needs it? 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar, who came in second to some country singer on the second season of X Factor, takes her music straight to her fans by releasing videos on YouTube.

Her latest is a cover of Bruno Mars’ “Runaway Baby” and it shows, even though Carly didn’t win the X Factor, she has THE x factor. She actually has that record deal too. Carly Rose told Radio Disney that Syco, Simon Cowell’s joint venture with Sony Music picked up her recording option.

The thing she misses most since the show ended is mentor Britney Spears. “I miss a lot about the show. Thinking back on it, I miss… I miss Britney a lot. I miss her so much,” Carly said. “I also miss singing on national television.”

In an interview with Celebrity Teen Scoop, Carly talked about how much work was involved in the production of X Factor:

“It was an amazing experience, but a tremendous amount of work. Each week we had to prepare around four new songs for our mentors to choose from, shoot reality segments, go to wardrobe fittings, and still do 15 hours a week of school! During the last week of the show, I actually had to learn seven songs in one week, including group numbers and the duet for the top two! I have to say it was great preparation for going into the music business.”

Carly isn’t new to the music biz. She started singing at age 2, and has been singing professionally in New York Jazz clubs and on Broadway since she was seven years old.

Before she wowed the world with her audition performance of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good,” most of Carly’s videos on YouTube were performance she did to raise money for various charities. After the X Factor season ended, Carly went right back to work raising money for the Diabetes Research Institute and the Starlight Children’s Foundation:

“I love working with Starlight,” said Carly Rose. “The kids are so inspiring and I feel lucky to be in the position where I have the opportunity to sing with them, my friends, in such a special setting.”

As #CarlysAngels wait for the release of that first album we are extremely happy to get our Carly Rose fix via YouTube.
