The St. Lous Rams are going to draft a QB

There is a universal rule that should guide all, bad football teams make bad football decisions. The proof of that the team that had the top three picks in the 2009 have top five picks in the 2010 NFL draft. The St. Louis Rams and the Detroit Lions have had the top two picks in the last two years, at the Rams have been among the top two pickers in the draft since 2008. Now everyone is saying there is no way they can pass up phenom DT Ndamukong Suh, well I hate to break it to ya, because they are going to.

Sure Suh may be a freak of an athlete, a once in a generation kind of talent, but so was Barry Sanders and he was not the first overall pick the year he was drafted. Think about it like this we heard a lot of the same arguments for Suh about LB Aaron Curry in last year’s draft. We heard a lot about Curry was the safest pick in that draft. He fell to four, and did not have the best rookie season of the LB’s drafted in 2009.

The simple fact here is St. Louis offense is it s biggest problem. To attract a franchise QB, they would have to trade away their only real offensive weapon in RB Steven Jackson. However the reason they will not draft Suh is not because of the on the field product it is all about business. The Rams have been twice burned by high draft DT prospects in the very recent past, and they are a team that is still for sale. A team that is for sale, with an ever plummeting asking price.

Now there are a lot of reasons why the Rams value keeps on dropping, but one of the biggest is the lack of a face for this franchise. Let us also not forget that NFL team trip over themselves to take a QB with the first overall pick and anoint him the face of their team. That is going to be the case in this year’s draft. Not because it is right, but because they feel they have too.

With the first pick in the 2010 NFL Draft the St. Louis Rams select Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame.
