Too Short Arrested For Alleged DUI, Drug Possession In Hollywood

Legendary West Coast rapper Too Short was reportedly arrested Wednesday for DUI and attempting to flee from the police in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, Too Short, whose birth name is Todd Anthony Shaw, was traveling down Hollywood Boulevard when he was stopped by police around 3am — an hour when the numerous clubs in the neighborhood are closing — as part of a random drunken driving check.

The 46-year-old rapper took off running when police tried to administer a breathalyzer test. Cops, however, quickly chased Too Short down and placed him under arrest.

“He was stopped for DUI investigation, ran from officers and actually tripped and fell,” Lt. Marc Reina of the Los Angeles Police Department told the New York Daily News. “He got maybe half a block and was taken into custody there.”

In addition to the DUI charges, Short is also reportedly facing a felony narcotics possession as arresting officers claimed the rapper tried to dump drugs in the back of the squad car.

Police booked Shaw in a Los Angeles County jail, where he was being held Wednesday morning in lieu of $10,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s website.

Sadly, Wednesday’s DUI bust wasn’t Too Short’s first run-in with the law.

In 2009, he had two arrests on suspicion of DUI, and in 2010, he was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges after performing at an Idaho nightclub.

Last month Short was believed to be connected to the triple homicide on the Las Vegas strip that claimed the life of Kansas City rapper Kenny Clutch.

Too Short responded to the claims with a message on his Facebook page that said he was not in Vegas at the time and had “no knowledge or connection to this incident.”
