Michelle Shocked Stuns Fan With Anti-Gay Rant

Singer and songwriter Michelle Shocked unleashed an anti-gay rant during a show in San Francisco on Sunday night.

Shocked, who is a born-again Christian, decided to share her thoughts on Proposition 8 with those in attendance. In her opinion, gay marriage will lead to the end of the modern world.

“When they stop Prop 8 and force priests at gunpoint to marry gays, it will be the downfall of civilization, and Jesus will come back,” Michelle Shocked told the crowd. “You are going to leave here and tell people, ‘Michelle Shocked said God hates faggots.’”

Several people who paid to see the singer perform walked out of the show. Club owner attempted to end the show, though Shocked continued to perform. The staff eventually turned off the PA and killed the lights.

Michelle Shocked’s anti-gay rant has caused one club to cancel her upcoming performance. The Evanston, Illinois venue SPACE will offer refunds to anyone offended by the singer-songwriter’s recent remarks.

“After speaking with the promoter of that show about the nature of the remarks, it’s clear that this is no longer a show we’re willing to put our name on,” the club announced on Facebook.

Michelle Shocked was an indie music darling during the late 80s and early 90s. Albums such as “The Texas Campfire Tapes” and “Short Sharp Shocked” helped establish her as a musician who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Although her views may have changed, Shocked is still ready and willing to share her thoughts with fans.

“According to my Bible, which I didn’t write, homosexuality is immoral But homosexuality is no more less a sin than fornication. And I’m a fornicator with a capital F,” she explained in a 2008 interview with the Dallas Voice.

Several people on Twitter are horrified and disappointed in the singer’s rant.
