Steve Wozniak Selling Home For Discount, Now Asking $4.4 Million
Steve Wozniak is selling the home in Los Gatos, California, that he built more than 25 years ago, and anyone interested in buying the Apple co-founder’s pad can get it at a discount.
After first putting the house on the market for $5 million last February and then lowering it to $4.5 million in September, Wozniak is now selling the palatial home for $4.4 million.
Wozniak built the sprawling home in 1986, a decade after he and Steve Jobs designed the world’s first home computer in the basement of Jobs’ parents’ garage. The home overlooks the Los Gatos Mountains and comes with six bedrooms and six full bathrooms.
Wozniak is asking $4.395 million for the 7,500-square-foot home, which is set in a heavily wooded area in the mountains. The computer pioneer poured some money into the home in 2006, when it underwent major renovations, but many of the original post-modern design elements remain.
Steve Wozniak could be selling the home to find more room for his electronics. The Apple brainchild said last year that he carries 50 pounds of electronics with him in a backpack when he’s on the road. Gizmodo found that at all times, Wozniak has an iPad, a portable keyboard, multiple smartphones,multiple Gameboy Lights (a type of Gameboy never sold in the US), and iPod nano, and a number of USB cables and batteries.
Wozniak has remained active at Apple, and recently was critical of the company’s failure to keep up with competitors on the cell phone front.
“I am proud that we have such loyal fans,” Wozniak said recently. “But this loyalty is not given, the need to have the best products is always there. Currently we are in my opinion somewhat behind with features in the smartphone business. Others have caught up. Samsung is a big competitor. But precisely because they are currently making great products.”
Though he earned a fortune from his work at Apple, the company’s co-founder will likely also pocket some nice change from the same of his home. The home Wozniak is selling sits on 1.19 acres and also has an outdoor koi pond and a waterfall.
