Michael Buble Says Baby Won’t Be Named After The Pope

Michael Buble said his baby won’t be named after the Pope.

The singer and his wife Luisana Lopilato said they are “thrilled” to be having a baby boy. However, Buble insists his baby won’t be named after Pope Francis.

The couple discovered the gender of their baby on the same day the Catholic Church elected the new Pope. Although his wife took the coincidence as a sign, the singer said he doesn’t plan on naming his child Frank.

“[Luisana] said, ‘It is a sign!'” Buble told the New York Post. “But there’s no way we are going to call him Frank, even if it did work well for Frank Sinatra.”

Although the singer joked about what to name his upcoming bundle of joy, Michael Buble seemed quite excited about the new baby.

“We are so excited. We have just come from the hospital, and the sonogram was pretty clear — it’s a boy!” he said. The baby is due in August.

In addition to welcoming their first child into the world, Michael Buble is also preparing to unleash yet another album. To Be Loved is currently slated to hit retail shelves on April 23. The singer recently shot a video for the single “It’s a Beautiful Day.”

“I used to worry about how the single would do and how the record would sell,” Buble explained to The Associated Press. “And the truth is, I love this record. I’m so proud of it. But, at the end of the day, if it sells 10 million or 10 copies, I’ve got bigger fish to fry,” he continued. “I’ve got a wife and a kid I love very much.”

The singer and his wife have been married since 2011. The couple announced the baby via a YouTube video back in January.

Although Michael Buble and Luisana Lopilato are expecting their first baby later this year, chances are he won’t be given the same name as the current Pope.
