Justin Bieber And Will.i.am Premiere New Song ‘That Power’ [Listen]

Justin Bieber and Will. i. am have premiered a new song, “That Power.”

The Black Eyed Peas frontman and producer dropped into UK radio station Capital FM and gave them a few seconds snippet of the not-yet-released track.

Introducing “That Power,” Will.i.am laid down a challenge for listeners, saying: “The collaboration on this song is a doozy, it’s a spectacular one and I’d rather the people tweet in who they think it is.”

Cue a few seconds of Bieber singing a life-affirming hook reminiscent of Kanye West’s 2007 hit “Stronger” with lyrics declaring, “And oh, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive and I’m loving every second, minute, hour, bigger, better, stronger, power,” before Will.i. am kicks back in with a title repeat.

“That Power” marks the second collaboration between the Canadian pop prince and Will.i.am. The pair got together on a mid-tempo song called “You And Me” that was leaked in September 2012.

Originally, the pair worked on a song called “Flying” for Will.i.am’s upcoming fourth studio album, #willpower, but that appears to have been swapped out for the new song.

Speaking about their latest musical venture, the rapper said: “It’s up-tempo, it’s Friday. I’m proud of the collaboration. Hopefully the people listening can guess who it is,” adding that he and Bieber recorded the song while watching the UK’s BRIT Award 2013 show.

A further interesting line in the song comes from Will. i. am when he blisters “who cares about the haters?”? The rapper/producer was one of the celebrities who publicly came out in support of Bieber following his run-in with a British paparazzo just over a week ago during the London leg of his 125-date “Believe” world tour.

That much scrutinized run-in capped a difficult seven days in the British capital that the teen idol famously called a “rough week.” Bieber tweeted his verdict of “worst birthday” after he and his crew were asked to leave/refused entry to a nightclub reportedly because of underage guests present including (actor Will Smith’s 14-year-old Jaden Smith).

The pop star then triggered a storm of protest from parents when he opened his first night of a four-day at London’s 02 Arena. For the record, Bieber appeared on stage 49 minutes late (not the much ballyhooed two hours). The star duly apologized while noting negative press reports that had hyped the row.

That drama was followed by the star collapsing three days later and of course the paparazzo face-off outside Bieber’s Park Lane hotel on March 8.

Earlier this week, Will. i am defended his young friend’s stance on the media revealing that he had telephoned Bieber while he was in London.

“Paparazzi are the most disrespectful folk that the industry has. People don’t really realize just how intruding they are to one’s life,” adding that the 19-year-old was simply going through a “bump in the road.”

The rapper then pointed out that no-one knows what an individual — celebrity or otherwise — is going through on a given day and that the pressure to be “on” can take its toll.

He added: “Give the guy [Bieber] some space and let him just grow up. He’s a good kid, he has a good mum, he has good friends around him. I’d say just be a little bit sensitive to people and their individual space. He’s already sharing his life with us, right?”

You can hear the interview where the “Scream and Shout” star defended Bieber here. “That Power” is released as a single on March 15 ahead of the release of #willpower on March 26.
