Lena Dunham Doesn’t Want A Victoria’s Secret Body

Take note everyone: Lena Dunham does not want a body like a Victoria’s Secret model. Dunham has a penchant for shocking viewers on her HBO show Girls. However, something that isn’t as shocking is Dunham’s candor about her image. Dunham, who easily sheds her clothes with abandon on every episode, has always been very forthcoming about her image.

While it’s not a surprise that Dunham has now stepped out to say she doesn’t want a Victoria’s Secret body, it’s still a huge feat for someone in her age group to come forth with a positive image on a regular body type.

The writer, director, actress and Golden Globe winner said of the pressures younger women face to keep their body in check “There would be all kinds of weird challenges to deal with. I don’t think I’d like it very much.”

The actress continues, arguing that it would make her more self conscious if she had a stick thin body:
“I don’t want to go through life wondering if people are talking to me because I have a big rack. Not being the babest person in the world creates a nice barrier.”

However, the pros of having a slender body aren’t lost on Dunham. She has entertained the other side of the coin of what it might mean to have a model body, explaining: “That said, I probably would want to see if I could get free food at restaurants. Then I’d call a doctor and see if she could return me to my former situation.”

Dunahm isn’t foreign to speaking out about how she’s perceived, or how she perceives her own image. Earlier in the year, Dunham spoke to Entertainment Weeklyabout misconceptions surrounding her: “This mythology sprung up that I had these rich parents, but it’s like, we all lived in one room! I worked at the dog shelter for $4.50 an hour.”

Do you think Lena Dunham’s message is refreshing?
