Four people were killed today during a shooting spree in upstate New York.

According to News 8000, four people were killed and two others were wounded during two separate shootings in Herkimer and Mohawk.

State police trooper Jack Keller said that two people were killed at a car wash next to a jewelry store in Herkimer and another two were killed at a barber shop in Mohawk. The barber shop shooting also injured two additional people. Police believe that the two incidents may be related.

Herkimer and Mohawk are about 70 miles northwest of Albany. The two towns are separated by the Mohawk River.

Police are currently looking for the shooter. According to Fox News, officials have identified the suspect as 64-year-old Kurt Meyers. He is considered armed and dangerous and is still on the loose.

As a precaution, officials have decided to put schools in Herkimer, Mohawk, and surrounding municipalities under lockdown. Mark Vivacqua the superintendent in Herkimer, said that schools in Bridgewater, Dolgeville, Frankfurt Ilion, Little Falls, Newport, Richfield Springs, and West Winfield were currently under lockdown.

Amanda Viscomi, Herkimer’s acting clerk-treasurer, said: “Everybody’s on lockdown, all the schools, the college, the village … It’s very, very scary.”

Heres what everybody commenting here NEEDS to realize. Those bad guys woulda got guns whether they were legal or illegal. The only thing we could have done in this situation would have been to make it easier for the victims to have access to firearms, so that they could have better defended themselves. Bottom line: More Guns=Less violence. The sooner we realize that, the safer we will be. If we all listened to Joe instead of Barack on this one, we'd be much better off.

16311 people were injured by guns in 2007. About as many were killed by guns in murders. How many murders were prevented by guns? We don't know. I personally believe that restricting guns works to a point, but really, the issue is mental health care, at least in the case of random shootings like Sandy Hook or whatever. Anyway, the bottom line is that guns don't kill people, people kill people, and though we probably should restrict guns a bit more, we should focus more on stopping people from killing others first through better social programs.

Good point… But we can't COMPLETELY restrict em. That's all I'm saying

These people have nothing wrong with their minds except to get fame from the cops and media, who gladly give it to them. Take away their pictures and names and they would go away.

    Didn't finish that: it is…

Well, WHEW, thank HEAVENS New York state has such STRICT gun laws. See how that works?

By all means let's keep the gun lobby happy; let's do nothing to interrupt the steady stream of hand guns, assault rifles, mega magazines, cop-killer bullets, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and all of the other things that some morons believe that the 2nd Amendment vouchsafes for every American regardless of his or her psychological condition, criminal record, or history of domestic violence. The Republicans have already made the gun manufacturers immune to civil litigation, and the NRA has made sure that they are swimming in profits as the prices of Glocks and AR-15's have more than doubled as the killing sprees multiply. When will these whackos see the error of their ways? Only when one of the latest victims of the gun violence is one of their own. By then it'll be too late…

So who are we supposed to protest – old loser white men who've listened to too much right-wing hate radio and need to pretend they are John Wayne by taking out unarmed civilians instead of an actual hard target? Logic as defined by you is an oxymoron.
