Mohawk Valley Shooting, Four Confirmed Dead [Breaking]


Noon UPDATE: After the Herkimer shooting suspect shot people located inside a home in the small village, he reportedly traveled to a barber shop and oil lube business and opened fire once again in the Mohawk shooting.

11:45 am UPDATE: New York State Police officers investigating the Herkimer shooting reportedly took about six long guns from the apartment prior around 11 am. Officers would not confirm if the weapons belonged to the Mohawk shooting suspect.

Law enforcement investigators initially searched for a maroon vehicle possible used by the Mohawk Valley shootings suspect. The car was reportedly found later in Herkimer. Police reports indicate that the Herkimer and Mohawk shootings suspects is between 50 and 60 years of age, is a slender white male, and stands about 5-foot-11. The Herkimer County shootings suspect has a white beard and white hair. The man was reportedly last seen wearing a flannel shirt.

New York State Police confirmed that two people were fatally shot at Gaffey’s Car Wash on Mohawk Street in Herkimer. Two more people sustained gunshot wounds on South Washington Street in Mohawk. At least two more people were injured in the Herkimer County shooting, but investigators could not currently say where the victims were found.

Mohawk firefighters also fought a structure fire at an apartment building located on South Washington Street. The fire is somehow connected to the Herkimer shootings and Mohawk shooting. The fire reportedly began around 9:30 am and was ultimately reported to the Mohawk Fire Department around 11 am. The exact cause of Herkimer County fire remains under investigation. The Herkimer shooting and Mohawk shooting gunman allegedly lived in the apartment building.

11:35 am UPDATE: Three separate shootings reportedly began in the small village of Herkimer, New York. Early reports indicate that at least six people were shot and at least four are dead. The gunman remains on the loose.

A Mohawk Valley shooting occurred around 11 am in the small New York town. Few details are yet known about the Herkimer shooting near Syracuse area shooting breaking news story. A Fox News live report noted that at least four people were shot at a small store. Shots were reportedly fired at a nearby car wash as well.

A Mohawk Valley locals news outlet is now reporting four people died in the shooting and area schools are on lockdown as a precaution. An explosion of some type also allegedly occurred at the time of the shooting. Local officials currently believe the Mohawk Valley shooting and the explosion may be related. Some witnesses are reporting seeing a man with a “long gun” doing the shootings near Syracuse.
