’24’ Movie Will Not Happen

For those looking forward to Kiefer Sutherland putting on his Jack Bauer act one last time for a 24 film, you can let that dream die. While promoting his new film Olympus Has Fallen, director Antoine Fuqua has revealed that the 24 film is not likely to happen.

Fuqua has a full plate as it is, with potential projects like a Tupac biopic Southpaw becoming a real possibility. Fuqua doesn’t have the interest or time to make the 24 film happen.

About the 24 film, Fuqua had this to say:

“Yeah, that’s not happening. I don’t think it’s gonna’ happen at all, definitely not with me. I met with Kiefer [Sutherland], Fox wanted to do it, it was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show [Touch]….I don’t think he was able to get a proper agreement with Fox. The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing.”

When the Fox series 24 first wrapped up, there was a ton of buzz about a 24 film that would ultimately wrap up a few loose ends to the series. The film was said to give fans more of Sutherland’s Bauer one last time. At the time of the announcement about the film, it was said the budget still had some working out to do, but it would eventually come to fruition.

Even though Fuqua isn’t on the project anymore, that doesn’t mean it’s dead in the water like many believe. Hypothetically speaking, another director can pick up the film if a studio really wanted to push the film. The question remains whether or not Kiefer Sutherland would be willing to follow someone who isn’t Fuqua to the big screen.

Would you want to see a 24 movie starring Kiefer Sutherland? Would you be okay with another actor replacing Sutherland if he ages out? Tell us what you think.
