Skeet Ulrich Headlines ‘Anatomy Of Violence’ From Creators Of ‘Homeland’

Skeet Ulrich has been cast in Anatomy of Violence, the upcoming CBS pilot from the creators of Homeland on Showtime, Deadline reported on Monday, March 11.

Ulrich will play an “unshaven and disheveled” criminal psychiatrist for the FBI, who teams with a female FBI agent with whom he has a “conflicted” past, Deadline noted.

Ulrich is the second to be cast in the series, and he will be joining David Harewood (Homeland), who plays a friend and confidante to the psychiatrist character.

Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, creators of Homeland, sold the pilot to CBS in October 2012, Cinema Blend noted, and are basing the crime-drama on an upcoming non-fiction book entitled The Anatomy of Violence: The Biological Roots of Crime by Adrian Raine.

The book hits shelves in June 2013.

Airing the pilot around that time would make sense from a cross-promotional standpoint, but Gordon, Gansa, and director Mark Pellington (Arlington Road) still have a lot of work to do — and a female lead to cast — before that can happen.

As for Skeet Ulrich, the casting victory is sure to be a welcome change of pace from recent troubles in both his professional and personal lives.

The former Scream star recently lost his job as Detective Rex Winters on Law and Order: Los Angeles when the series was canceled in 2011 after just one season.

In January 2013, Ulrich was charged with contempt of court after ex-wife Georgina Cates filed suit for $284,861.84 in unpaid child support.

The couple divorced in 2005 but agreed to share custody of their 12-year-old twins Jakob Dylan and Naiia Rose.

A source close to Cates stated, “This would not have happened if his not paying had just started, but it has been going on for a year.”

Cates is an actress herself, starring in the film Clay Pigeons with Vince Vaughn and Joaquin Phoenix and an episode of TNT’s The Closer.

Do you think Skeet Ulrich will be a good casting choice for Anatomy of Violence?
