John Gruber of Daring Fireball this morning put up a post stating that the Apple Tablet won’t have an integrated camera and considering how reliable DF has been in the past about Apple products that could be a sign of things to come.
Gruber also stated that the unit isn’t going to be the videophone game changer expected by many analysts, this is what he had to say about the picture/video capabilities of the unit:
And, for what it’s worth, I’m hearing there is no camera, webcam or otherwise, on The Tablet.
It doesn’t surprise me that the hype build-up will bring with it some disappointments, at least we only need to wait three more weeks to find out whats hype and whats reality. [Gizmodo via Daring Fireball]

If the iTablet (or whatever) has an integrated webcam you’d think the point of that would be iChat-style video conferencing from the device.
If it also has 3G connectivity (like an iPhone) one would wonder if there would still be the “no using your unlimited data plan to make phone calls and thereby saving your mobile minutes” restrictions that iPhone applications have.
