Taylor Swift doesn’t understand all of the media interest in her love life. What are we making her out to be? She’s only dated two guys since 2010, for crying out loud!
In an interview with Vanity Fair (March issue, available on the 7th) Swift said that she considers media interest in her love life to be “ridiculous,” and doesn’t get why she’s mocked for her seemingly wishy-washy relationship track.
When Tina Fey and Amy Poehler mocked Swift at the Golden Globes over her love life, the country star was anything but pleased, reports People.
“You know, if you want some big revelation, since 2010 I have dated exactly two people,” Swift said.
Swift is presumably referring to Harry Styles and Conor Kennedy, here.
The singer continues, “The fact that there are slideshows of a dozen guys that I either hugged on a red carpet or met for lunch or wrote a song with … it’s just kind of ridiculous.”
But does Swift kind of see where we’re coming from? She does look a little boy crazy, right? After all, she has been linked to Styles, Kennedy, Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner, Joe Jonas, John Mayer, and most recently, Ed Sheeran.
But the 23-year-old doesn’t see herself that way. Furthermore, she considers the brand to be sexist.
“For a female to write about her feelings, and then be portrayed as some clingy, insane, desperate girlfriend in need of making you marry her and have kids with her, I think that’s taking something that potentially should be celebrated – a woman writing about her feelings in a confessional way – that’s taking it and turning it and twisting it into something that is frankly a little sexist.”
Swift also says that she’s dealing with “little bit of a chaotic media circus right now,” but despite that, she’s definitely looking forward to settling down with her “great love.”
“Like a guy who wants to know the stories of who I was before this,” Swift says of her ideal man. “And the things that aren’t on my Wikipedia page and the things that didn’t happen on an awards show.”
Are you a fan of Taylor Swift? Do you believe that she has only dated two guys since 2010? Is media interest in her love life a little much? Sound off!
