16-year-old boy runs off with 42-year-old World of Warcraft ‘soulmate’

Man, true love: you can’t beat it. Particularly the kind where some horny teenage boy runs off to a romantic tryst in a different country with his 42-year-old “soulmate” who he met while playing World of Warcraft. *sniff* Someone get me a damn tissue here!

“On Tuesday evening, 16-year-old Andrew Kane nonchalantly asked his mother and father if they would drive him from their Barrie, Ont., home to a hotel in nearby Midland, where he planned to meet a 42-year-old woman with whom he had been having a secret relationship over the Internet.”

Yes, it’s more World of Warcraft nuttiness. While playing the famous MMO, it appears Andrew fell for Lauri Price, a Texas mother of four, who supposedly flew from Houston to Toronto to meet up with her young lover.

Kane disappeared on Tuesday, and was only found two days later after police released images of Price. He was found on Thursday, with the search aided by a series of various web chats left behind by the loved-up couple. “All they had to do was read the chat logs and they were immediately concerned,” said Ms. Kane her son’s relationship with the woman. “He said she was his soulmate.”

Turns out that Kane had lied about his age to Price, saying he was 20, though the age of consent in Canada is 16. As a result, Price was simply told to go home, while I assume Kane got the biggest bollocking of his rather brief life.
