Jimmy Smits Returning To ‘Sons Of Anarchy’

Jimmy Smits is set to return to Sons Of Anarchy. Smits plays the character Neron “Nero” Padilla on the hit FX series about outlaw bikers.

Smits has reportedly signed a contract to appear in all 13 episodes of season six. His character appeared in 12 of the 13 episodes in the show’s fifth season. Production is set to begin this spring for episodes that will begin airing this fall.

Sons of Anarchy is described as the “highest rated series ever” for the FX network. As reported by Deadline.com, the action-packed drama series draws an average of 6.3 million viewers.

The show follows a cast of diverse characters, centering around a notorious outlaw motorcycle club. Sons of Anarchy is set in the fictional town of “Charming,” California. The motorcycle club gives the impression of a tightly knit family, but every family has its secrets.

The main character Jackson “Jax” Teller, played by Charlie Hunnam, is the young president of the club. Jax finds himself in increasingly volatile situations as he struggles to balance his commitment to his club family with the family he has at home.

Jimmy Smits joined the cast of Sons of Anarchy as the love interest of Jax’s mother, played by Katey Sagal. Smits’ character “Nero” has worked hard to gain to trust of the SAMCRO club, primarily Jax.

Smits’ role on Sons of Anarchy came after a bit of a hiatus from television. After leaving NYPD Blue in 1998, as discussed by IMDB, the actor only appeared in a handful of successful television programs before joining the Sons of Anarchy cast. As discussed on FXnetworks.com, the season premier will air on September 11. The premier will include an online chat with the director and cast.
