546,000 words and my 2009 at The Inquisitr

Yesterday as I was writing my post about my one and only prediction for 2010 I also made the statement that I wasn’t much for trying to pick out any highlights from the past year mainly because I felt that it is a pointless exercise. Today however as I was walking through town to the mall amid fresh falling snow I started thinking about that statement.

I still stick by it but with a caveat. You see for me working here at The Inquisitr hasn’t really been a matter of any individual high points because in reality the whole of 2009 working for Duncan has been one of the highest points of my semi-long life.

After all I have the chance to write about literally anything that catches my attention. I get to be myself with all the warts and bad spelling that it implies. I get to spend my days doing something I love doing which is talking about, sharing info about and opining about technology – and I get paid for it.

In the past year I think I have only missed one day of posting but on an average I figure I write out about 1,500 words per day which works out to 546,000 words for the last 364 days of 2009 and I’ve enjoyed typing every single one of them. It helps immensely when you have an editor/boss who believes in the people he hires and I can tell you that The Inquisitr wouldn’t be what it is without his quiet encouragement (regardless of being blacklisted by Techmeme which is their loss not ours).

It has been a great year here at The Inquisitr and without a doubt I am looking forward to many more years here because I don’t believe that there is a boss who could equal the freedom and support that Duncan gives to all his writers.

So to Duncan and the other writers here at The Inquisitr – it’s been a great 2009 and it only promises to be an even better 2010 – thanks for being a great team.
