Jennifer Lawrence Smokes Weed?

Jennifer Lawrence smoking weed

Jennifer Lawrence is officially way too cool for us.

Fresh off her stunning (but deserved) Oscar win over the weekend, the 22-year-old Silver Linings Playbook actress was spotted hanging out on the balcony of her luxury hotel suite in Hawaii just last night (February 27), reports Celebrity Gossip.

What was JLaw up to? Splitting a bottle of wine with a girlfriend, giving hugs, and lighting up a suspicious looking cigarette.

Pictures posted to Just Jared show Lawrence smoking what appears to be a joint while holding a bottle of wine and just taking in the view. She looked very happy and very relaxed, and was sitting with a female friend whom she hugged in an apparent “I love you, man” moment.

So she was feeling good, probably from the wine (and possibly the weed) but Lawrence isn’t really known as a smoker of any kind, so we’re not sure what’s up here.

Kentucky-born Lawrence is currently in Hawaii for work, re-shooting scenes for the upcoming Hunger Games follow-up, Catching Fire.

Though she may have been smoking weed, Lawrence is definitely high on another thing these days: Success. She earned numerous more fans on Sunday when she accidentally tripped on her way up to the stage to accept her Oscar for Best Actress, and followed with an adorable acceptance speech.

“Thank you so much,” she gushed, out of breath. “This is nuts. You guys are only standing up because I fell and you feel bad. That was embarrassing.”

The very next day, Lawrence was back to work, visiting a Beverly Hills salon to dye her hair back to Katniss black.

So what if she is smoking weed! She has a good head on her shoulders and just won an Academy Award at the age of 22. Clearly, she is not an out of control, girl gone wild like many of her peers. If anything, this should help eliminate some of the stigma surrounding marijuana. It just saddens me that she was hanging out in (what she thought was the) privacy of her own hotel room and someone looking for a post-Oscars picture invades her privacy.

    1) If it's pot, she's breaking the law.

    2) Her parents moved her from Kentucky to LA, and paid all her expenses for years while she auditioned and worked her way up. They must be proud to see these pics.

    3) In a recent LA times article I read, "She’s also acutely aware of the influence she has on young women, particularly now that she’s playing the strong, self-possessed heroine Katniss Everdeen". Obviously these pictures show us how seriously she takes being a role model. And what about that picture of her flipping the bird at the Oscars right after her acceptance speech? Yeah, great role model.

    1) Any parent who let their kids stay up that late to watch her press conference and see her flipping the bird is a bad parent who has no business calling people out on whether or not they are good role models.
    2) She was in the privacy of her own hotel room when she was smoking. She was not anywhere in which there should have been a reasonable expectation for her to be anyone's role model.
    3) Most of the smartest, most successful people I have known and looked up to were pot heads, so I'm really not buying the role model excuse either.
    4) In Arizona, it's illegal to own more than two dildos. There are plenty of stupid things that are illegal. If she wants to take the risk it's up to her. My wife and I always make sure to drive the speed limit when we drive through Arizona.
    5) How do you know what her parents must think? Maybe they smoke pot, too? Lots of people do. Even if they don't, if I had a daughter who just won an Oscar for acting after a busy year of films, premieres, interviews and award shows, and she wanted to smoke a joint to relax afterward, I wouldn't begrudge her that. And I sure as hell wouldn't be any less proud of her.
6)To summarize: It's not of your business so get over it.
