‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2’ Drops First Trailer [Video]

The first trailer for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 has arrived online.

Sony Pictures has finally given fans of the hit animated comedy Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs a chance to see what’s in store for Flint Lockwood and company in the sequel.

According to the trailer’s narrator, the heroes from the first film were forced to leave the town of Swallow Falls behind so things could get cleaned up. When they return to see how things were going, Lockwood and friends discover that things have changed a lot since their last visit.

In addition to landscape that appears to consist mostly of food, Lockwood’s FLDSMDFR machine is also responsible for creating mutant half food-half animals. While some are friendly, others are anxious to get off the island and cause trouble. It’s up to Flint and his companions to stop the machine and prevent the animals from escaping.

Directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 finds Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, and Will Forte reprising their respective rolls. Unfortunately for Mr. T fans, the former A-Team star will not return as the voice of Earl Devereaux. Instead, Terry Crews will tackle the role.

The first Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was a modest success for the folks at Sony Pictures Animation. The film earned around $124 million at the domestic box office. According to Box Office Mojo, the comedy brought in approximately $243 million around the world. The film also proved to be a hit on home video.

The studio is no doubt hoping fans will show up at theaters to check out the sequel when it arrives later this year. You can find the first trailer embedded below.
